Watching the wheels run dry Holding a dirty shoe Wearing a memory of all that I once could do And nobody could tell me anything near the truth of the embracing all tidal wave of this living proof my heart it runs around outside I try to juts keep up with it Every day I have to learn to let go That’s the hardest bit Sometimes I miss the old life When I'm hung in the air Negotiating a meal Washing the underwear Talking on plastic phones There's never a dull second here All it takes is a smile To make the world disappear And I just can't seem to take you in with a single view It's like drinking from angle Whenever I look at you My heart it runs around outside I try to just keep up with it Every time I have to learn to let go That’s the hardest bit And I just can't seem to take you in with a single view It's like drinking from angle Whenever I look at you

HEY SUN 04:36 video
I met you when I was twelve Such a confident kid your magic shows well known You already had tricks hid We’d knock about And then sometimes You’d pass me in the stairwells You had somewhere to go No time to say our farewells You breezed through like a song And your shadow lingers on forever I recall you walked in a room Like someone Said hey sun and the moon get down from there, try squeeze in this square and Olympia admires how you ran fast with that fire this small town kid could aspire too One minute I was in your house The next you were in mine. Not physically there. You share bright lights this time And as I saw it's possible I put my head down too and plowed in fields of sound I owe this tune to you You breezed through like a song And your shadow lingers on forever I kept a picture of you from a paper to remind me That anything is possible Maybe for you especially Im just glad the world got to see what I got to see. I recall you walked in a room Like someone Said hey sun and the moon get down from there, try squeeze in this square and you had to be returning left Olympia still burning lived life bright and then journeying on

See the girls and boys with both eyes looking at their leaders Leaders in the sky Looking with one eye paid to shut the other don’t be surprised     if they see this Make your own enemy it’s so easy to do you only need a few tools to get you through Make your own enemy keep mud smooth in your pen while your making your teeth whiter build an army of them  Make your own enemy  fold resources, gather power roll the borders to the corners let the winds turn sour  Make your own enemy oppress young down hard take both mother and father as antagonist you’ve starred Make your own enemy dig a hole under a home  as the sands start falling in  move and make them stand alone Make your own enemy add insult to taste  when the enemy comes for you  You make more enemies You make more enemies You make  See the girls and boys with both eyes looking at their leaders Don't be surprised if they see this

ALL OF YOU 04:08
I am a river float along above me now trying to cascade into a jar and I don’t know how a treasury of a golden mine just take a dollar at a time I don’t want to know all of you you don’t want to know all of me I know you won’t I’ll be the moon and you can be the sun step back and watch the phases as they come you face me I face you and re flect a distance palpably so correct what ever happened to the voice inside my head I’m wearing it like a parker in the sun instead a joke falls in an empty wood still means that the joke was good I don’t want to know all of you you don’t want to know all of me I know you won’t Lights off the noise stops the fear (/noise/need) goes away Reach in I’m still here what’s there left to say I’ll be the moon and you can be the sun step back and watch the phases as they come you face me I face you and reflect a distance palpably so correct

They say there’s an afterlife well I’m not sure if that’s true however one things quite certain when I look at you I see a face filled with faces that made up the places of the past we come together in hope and in wanting to ensure our kind will last it is oh so clear in all you’ve got that we go on forever we do endeavour beyond our earthly lot I learnt I learnt energy is never destroyed never ending it just goes on changing just kept turning to otters forms of energy then to other forms of energy

I will never tell you what I sung here...

about

Magnetic Resonance Centre was produced in a little blue room in the front of my house. I worked away at it in every opportunity I had between two children coming into the world. I would grab an hour here, or ten minutes there to continue to carve it out. If you listen very closely, you will definitely hear the sounds of small children adding to the timbre of the songs. Sometimes I even sampled the background noise and worked it in when I could. For instance Red Dust has a fly screen door sampled in the drum rack as my kids walked out the front door once while doing a vocal take.

This album provided an evolution of my capabilities as a producer. I was learning throughout and relied on the support of my trusted ears and bandmates (and partner) Andrew Ryan and Michael Jelinek to add parts and give feedback. Michael Jelinek then used his skills to sand and polish each tune.

There were two that I took to my friend Kevin Parker. Dance For None and Red Dust. I have worked with him over years on many things and I knew he'd do these ones justice with his wizardry. I always learn a lot from watching him work as he works fast and is constantly mixing the sounds in after capturing them... so the track takes shape pretty quickly. He helped me a lot. He and I wrote the outro of Red Dust together... scaffolding ideas off of one another.

DIY Enemy is another example of great collaboration and scaffolding. Mike Jelinek gave me some chords to add to the mix and Jelly and Andrew wrote drum parts and bass parts. Not happy with the intensity of sound, I pulled all the parts away and started again... and created the spooky doll vibe chimes. Andrew added that excellent bass line and Jelly wrote new drums to match the new tune it had become. Sooner Than The Sun was a similarly laboured song... continually pulling it apart and re-structuring it. Certainly the sun was sooner than the tune took to finish.

Burj Khalifa was one of the last songs I produced for the album along with Hey Sun and by that stage, my processes were honed and I was galloping down the other side of the hill of work.

I tried to let people in more with my lyrics on this album. I have a tendency to not want to share much...but in the end, I as much as anyone, want genuine human connection. The song All Of You is about how uneasy social media makes me feel every time I go to post though... but we all know social media is far from genuine.

I am very grateful to the friends who lent their time and skills to the additional instrumentation: the strings, the horns and the wind instruments. All incredible musicians. I am lucky to know them.

The mastering was done at King Willy Sounds and when I told William Bowden what the album was called, he told me his father was a scientist who's field it was to know a lot about Magnetic Resonance Imaging. I named the outro song after the title of a paper that Williams dad wrote.

The artwork is something to speak about too. Fellow mum and artist May Bluebell did a photo shoot with me and made the back artwork and then she created a work that was made out of rocks and magnetic elements for the cover. She and I would get together and work on our respective creative projects while our kids would create their own kind of special creative project called 'pull out the dress ups and chuck them everywhere'. The final layout was done by a father Joe Kapiteyn who also has a powerful partner who creates her own musical magic.

Over the four years fo making this record, regular human life things happed too. I became a mother and my identity metamorphosed. Some friends moved out of my life and took their kindness with them, while other friendships flourished like a plant near a stream of water. I learnt and I changed while still remaining intrinsically an unequivocally me and I think you will get that when listening to this record.

It is with that I say to these songs good luck out there. Go forth and make good friends.
